Project Date: 2013
Roles: Lead UI/UX Designer, User Research, User Testing
Hatcheree was a nascent entertainment startup; the premise was to share project ideas in progress from well known writers and directors, solicit ideas and feedback, and establish a connection with fans to determine whether a given property had promise to turn into a movie or television series.
I was brought into the project as a lead UI/UX designer, after the startup had initially hired an agency to create a low-fidelity interactive prototype.

With the initial prototypes, Hatcheree was having problems in user tests getting people to understand the goal of the product, which was to get them to engage in giving feedback and ideas to the project author.
We decided to start more or less from the ground-up, and created interactive sketch prototypes using Prototype on Paper (P.O.P):

Quick UI sketches for redesign of Hatcheree site, made interactive using P.O.P
After iterating on the product using sketches and lightweight interactive prototypes, we began creating higher-fidelity mockups using InVision.

Using these interactive mocks, we began more extensive user and usability testing, which we conducted both in-person and remotely.

User feedback from early interactive prototypes
Our biggest learnings from these tests were that we needed to make participating in feedback easier and more compelling, and also create a way for users to share their own creativity & participation via their profile page.

I then worked hand-in hand with the developer to implement the site, which we put through further testing before running live tests with a well known author and his fan base.
Although the initial tests went well, the project was put on hold due to a lack of funding.
